Interesting Fact
Macadamia seed oil contains palmitoleic acid, a rare fatty acid that closely resembles the natural oils produced by the scalp. This similarity allows the oil to deeply hydrate and repair hair, restoring shine and strength without a greasy residue. At Simply Bee, we include the oil in our shampoos and conditioners to promote silky, healthy hair while supporting a natural and sustainable approach to hair care.
Origin
Macadamia seed oil, well-known for its moisturising and restorative properties, is derived from the nuts of the macadamia tree (Macadamia integrifolia). Native to Australia, the tree has a long history of use by Indigenous Australians, who valued the nuts for their nutritional and medicinal benefits. Over time, the popularity of macadamia spread globally, and today, countries like South Africa and Hawaii play a key role in its cultivation due to their ideal growing conditions. The oil extracted from the seeds has become highly prized for its versatility, particularly in hair care products like Simply Bee’s shampoos and conditioners.
The production of macadamia seed oil begins with harvesting the ripe nuts from the trees. After collection, the nuts are de-husked to remove the outer shell, revealing the inner kernel. These kernels are then cold-pressed, a method favoured for its ability to preserve the oil’s natural nutrients and beneficial properties. During the pressing process, the kernels are gently crushed to release their oil, which is rich in essential fatty acids, antioxidants, and vitamins. Following extraction, the oil undergoes filtration to remove any impurities, resulting in a light, golden product that absorbs quickly. Furthermore, this careful process ensures that macadamia seed oil retains its hydrating and nourishing qualities, making it an excellent choice for hair and scalp care.
